Lago Superior :: Lake Superior

Tambien ese fin de semana largo visitamos el Lago Superior y pasamos una noche acampando y celebrando la graduacion de colegio de dos amigos de Nuri. Sus familias son muy amigas, los Simeoni y los Belcher, y dos del clan salieron de promo.

Also that long weekend we visited Lake Superior, and spent a night camping and celebrating the high school graduation of two friends. Their families - Simeonis and Belchers - are good friends with Nuri's family, and two kids of their clan graduated this year.

Aqui estamos tratando de tener una foto de grupo :: Here we are trying to have a group picture!!


La comida estuvo buenisima y, entre los Simeoni y otros amigos que tienen una banda, armaron la fiesta y todos bailamos :: Food was excellent, plus - with the band of the Simeonis and their friends - they had a big folk dance, and we all enjoyed it!


Al final del dia vimos el atardecer en la playa del lago y dormimos en tiendas :: At the end of the day we watched the sunset on the beach, and slept in our tents :)


Ambos dias todos jugamos un juego "romano", en parejas, y aqui van fotos de aquellos que salieron en primer y segundo lugar, con sus premios!!

Both days we played games, and here is a "roman" game that we played in pairs, and you can see the photos of those who won the first and second place, and receiving their awards!!




Y finalmente, parte de la tradicion de estas familias, los chicos hicieron su priamide humana!! :: And at the end, as these families' tradition, the kids made their human piramide...

TRIATHLON

El pasado fin de semana largo -pues tuvimos el lunes libre, cuando se conmemora a todos los que murieron sirviendo a esta nacion, llamado "Memorial Day"- fuimos al norte, donde viven los padres de Nuri. Llegamos el viernes a eso de las 11:00 pm y al dia siguiente temprano Nuri y su hermano Daniel participaron en una competencia de triatlon, comenzando con natacion, que fue reemplazada con canoas o kayaks, en la que participaron Daniel y una amiga suya llamada July Ann. Las fotos son del punto de partida y de los dos remando.

Last Memorial Day weekend we went up North, to Nuri's parents. We arrived on Friday, around 11:00 pm and next day starting early, Nuri and his brother Daniel took part of a triathlon, which instead of the regular swimming, started with canoes/kayaks. Daniel and a friend of his named July Ann started the competence, and below you may find pictures of the starting point and them rowing.




Mientras Daniel y July Ann remaban alrededor del lago, Nuri esperaba en la orrilla junto a otros, y se preparaba para los 20 km en bicicleta que iba a correr en medio del bosque.

And while Daniel and July Ann were canoeing around the lake, Nuri was waiting at the shore, getting ready for the 10 miles of biking inside the woods.



Ni bien llegaron los otros, Nuri corrio hacia su bicicleta...

As soon as they got there, Nuri run towards his bike...



.. se monto a su bici y salio! Una parte era sobre asfalto, asi que yo fui corriendo para alcanzarlo y sacarle una foto.

.. he got up in his bike and left! Part of the ride was on the asfalt, so I hurried there to be able to photograph him.




Y en otro punto, donde Nuri tenia que llegar, Daniel estaba esperandole para seguir el triatlon corriendo unos 6 Km. Nuri llego tan rapido que no pude sacarle foto, pero aqui pueden ver los dos que llegaron antes de el y Daniel de espaldas esperando para partir.

At another certain point, where Nuri had to arrive, Daniel was waiting for him to continue the triathlon running about 3 miles. Nuri arrived so fast that I wasn't able to photograph him, but in this photo you can see the two that arrived before him and Daniel's back - waiting to depart running!



Y despues de 1 hora 20 minutos y no se cuantos segundos, llega Daniel a la meta, mientras Nuri&Leila y los otros esperabamos, siendo el equipo de los Eady el segundo en su categoria!! :)

And after 1 hour 20 minutes and I don't know how many seconds, Daniel arrives to the Final Point, while Nuri&Leila and others were waiting for him, being the Eady team the second in their category!! :)

Empanadas! :D

A couple of weeks ago we made empanadas. Basically we made a dough and suffed it with a stew made of turkey and potatoes, some raisins, a piece of egg and other condiments, deep fried them and voila! A comer!! :)

Un par de semanas atras hicimos empanadas fritas... el jigote era con carne de pavo y nos salieron riquisimas. Estamos contando los dias para comer las salteñas y empanadas en Bolivia!! :D

Elyse in Town :: Nos visita Elyse

Nuestra amiga Elyse vino de visita el pasado fin de semana y fuimos a almorzar el domingo despues de nuestras oraciones matinales. Ella esta viviendo en Carolina del Norte y ojala uno de estos dias nosotros vamos a visitarla! :)

Our friend Elyse came for a visit the past weekend and we all went for lunch on Sunday after devotions. She is now living in North Carolina and hopefully one of these days we can go an visit her! :)
